stranger than fiction, indeed

last night i performed for a private corporate party. upon arrival, i found that an investment banker was hosting the event, and the audience was comprised of his clients.

well now, nothing screams "comedy" like a room full of stock marketeers in a time of free-fall.

i further found out that he was going to go up before the comedy show, and give a 20 minute power-point presentation on the current market, meaning "here's where your portfolio went... and now, some laughs!"

well now, nothing screams "comedy" like finding out your life's savings have disappeared, and that the company that lost it all for you is spending several thousand dollars to rent out a showroom and entertainers to tell you all about it.

i then walked into the showroom and saw the audience was basically the geriatric ward of any hospital; everyone looked to be 70 to 80 years old.

well now, nothing screams...

(you get the picture)

the show actually went rather well; one big laugh i got was off a simple, "hey, by a round of applause, who here is retired... not so fast, future wal mart greeters."

heh.
